Reclaim the Lost Art of Letter Writing
In searching for a letterbox and finding nothing, I thought it a good idea to make up some gift boxes for anyone wishing to "reclaim the lost art of letter writing".
Our lives are so hectic that we have no time for others or ourselves. If we wish to leave a legacy for future generations to ponder, we must start now to leave some record. A letter means you were thinking about the person and took the time to sit down and connect with them on things
of the past as well as the dreams for the future.
Thomas Merton's book "The Courage for Truth" is a series of letters written to poets and authors around the world. The John Adams' book consists of letters to his wife and her letters to him. The movie from the book, "The Color Purple" is letters. Letters are history written in advance and now people dig into basements and attics to find treasures of the past that have been almost forgotten, but for the letters.
Many friends and family call today, but what have you when the call is over. A letter can be read, reread and years later reread by the children, grandchildren and others in a hundred years.
Each box is unique and contains an assortment of papers, envelopes, a dozen of assorted greeting cards/notes (usually inspirational with a Bible verse), potpourri, a stress candle (sometimes a floating one), and bags of enclosures (feathers, buttons, stars, leaves, confetti, butterflies or a surprise) to be creative with.
Pet yourself, your family and your friends with taking a few minutes to keep in touch by writing a letter and reminding them how much you love them, or send them a gift letterbox.
